Do you accept insurance?

I currently accept insurance through a service called Headway. Through Headway I'm in network with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, Oxford, Providence Health, and United Healthcare.

Question 2

Can I get reimbursed if you're not in network with my insurance?

I provide superbills (detailed, itemized receipt of services including information needed for insurance companies) to my clients so that they can submit to their insurance for reimbursement when I work with someone who has an insurance carrier I'm not in network with. Check with your insurance carrier to verify your out of network benefits.

Question 3

What if we start working together and I feel like we're not a good fit?

While I've been told I'm a great therapist, I'm certainly not a therapist for everyone! This happens sometimes and it is in no way offensive to me when it does. If you or I determine I am not the right fit or the appropriate level of care for your mental health needs, we talk about it. If we're unable to resolve the issue, we explore therapists who may be a better fit for you. I also provide you with what's called a release of information consent form, so that I can get your new therapist up to speed. The most important thing in my practice is making sure my clients get the care they need and deserve, even if it's not with me.

Do people find out what we talk about in sessions?

Generally, no. Therapy sessions are confidential. Unless I have it in writing that you would like me to contact someone (usually a psychiatrist, nurse practitioner, or school counselor) I do not share the specifics of our sessions with others. If I am contacted by someone and I don't have a written consent on file to speak with them, my response is "I can neither deny nor confirm that I know the person in question." If you fill out a release of information form for me to speak with someone and later decide you don't want me communicating with this person, you can revoke your consent at anytime. Therapists are mandated reporters. This means that disclosure of child abuse or neglect must be reported to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) and that I am not able to use my clinical judgement in reporting. In cases of disclosing plans to end your life or the life of another, I also need to break confidentiality.
